Nyandarua Institute of Science and Technology
Nyandarua Institute of Science and Technology was started as a public technical training institution through an initiative from the local community and leaders. The land was donated by the KARI . It was and Still the only public technical institution offering technical training in the entire Nyandarua County. Through a major funds drive in the 90’s, the first one story building was erected. Members of parliament from the various Constituencies in Nyandarua County came together and through the CDF completed the project. Consequently, the first Batch of Students were admitted in 2006. Since then the institute has grown and now has a student population of over 500 students.
The Institute has four one story blocks that houses Classrooms, Computer Laboratories and Offices.A multi-million modern ESP Complex consisting of Workshops, Lecture Rooms, Offices has been completed, and Currently a multi-million modern library is under construction. There are two computer laboratories with a total 80 computers.There are also workshops that is well equipped for Electrical, Mechanical and Building related courses.
NIST is now a recognized public Technical Training Institute that is mandated to offer Technical, Industrial, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training as spelt out in the Education Act and Science and Technology Act.
Nyandarua Institute of Science and Technology popularly referred to by its abbreviated name as NIST is a Tertiary Institution guided by the value of integrity, commitment and fairness while upholding the principles of professionalism, team work and excellence. The nature and quality of training offered by a team of qualified and professional lecturers, gives the basis for us to realize the vision 2030.
Nyandarua Institute of Science and Technology is located seven kilometers from Nyahururu Town along the Nyahururu -Gilgil road in a serene environment conducive for learning.
In addition to providing academic and technical skills, we seek to develop in our students creativity and innovation that enables them to integrate successfully in all areas of management
Nyandarua Institute of Science and Technology prides itself in having attained the ISO 9001:2008 certification. The road to certification has given us the impetus to develop homegrown quality objectives to improve service to our customers. Through the achievement of these objectives, we continuously make tremendous progress in contributing to the realization of our strategic plan and the Kenya Vision 2030.
We are committed to our long term vision of developing a strong technological institution. This will play a leading role in the exploitation of the immense resources and potential of Nyandarua County region.

Nyandarua offers a number of Courses in Diploma and Certificate levels examined by KNEC and KASNEB NIST is fully accredited by the Ministry of Education as a TVET Institution.The institute has various facilities for co-curricular activities ranging from Sports and Games, Drama, Scouting, PA,Christian Union, Catholic Association and Guidance and Counseling.

For admission of diploma courses one should have a KSCE mean grade of C – (Minus)
For admission of certificate course one should have a KSCE mean grade of D (Plain)

1. Boarding fee is Ksh.3,000.00 per term) (BED ONLY).
Meals will be served on PAY AS YOU EAT (P.A.Y.E) basis in the dining hall.
For MALE students boarding fees should not be deposited in the institute account prior to confirmation of availability of rooms. A note to pay will be provided after payment of other institute monies.
2. Examination fees are paid separately and will only be accepted once the Institute fee has been paid in full.
3. Schools fees is payable through: EQUITY BANK ACCOUNT NO: 0160296471157 OR Bankers cheque.
4. Fees once paid is NOT refundable.
