Laikipia University

Laikipia University is a Kenyan University situated in Nyahururu. It is the premier university of education (arts) in the country currently. The university has seven campuses: Nakuru campus, Embu campus, Nyahururu Town campus, Naivasha campus, Nairobi City Campus (Upper hill TBM Plaza), Mararal campus and Eldoret campus.

Laikipia University was awarded Charter on 19th February 2013  by the then President & Commander in Chief of the Defence Forces of the Republic of Kenya; his Excellency Hon. Mwai Kibaki E.G.H., This made the institution a fully-fledged University.

1. Certificate Programmes
Minimum Entry Requirements:
KCSE Mean Grade D+ or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution for all certificate courses except in Certificate in Bridging Mathematics, Kiswahili, English – KCSE Mean Grade of C+

2. Diploma Programmes
Minimum Entry Requirements:
An aggregate KCSE grade of C (PLAIN) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.

3. Bachelors Degree Programmes
Minimum Entry Requirements:
An aggregate KCSE grade of C+ (PLUS) or a relevant Diploma from a recognized institution.
(Some Degree Programmes may require higher aggregate KCSE grade).

4. Post Graduate Degree Programmes:
Entry Requirements:
First Degree in a Relevant field

5. Masters Programmes
Entry Requirements:
Bachelor Degree, Second Class Honours (Upper Division) and above OR Bachelor Degree Second Class Honours (Lower Division) with at least two (2) years’ relevant work experience.

Each student is expected to meet accommodation charges which will be communicated to each applicant before the session starts.

Laikipia University Nyahururu Campus

Laikipia University Nyahururu Campus was established in 2002 as the Centre for Continuing Education to cater for the training needs of the local community and offer educational opportunities to those interested in pursuing both vocational and higher education.

Laikipia University Nyahururu Campus is located at the Gatero Building. It is also a few metres from the Nyahururu Town Clock and Kenol Petrol Station.

Teaching Staff
The Campus has qualified staff for all courses. Whenever there is a shortfall, part-time lecturers are engaged to ensure that our students get value for their money.

Facilities
The Campus has a well stocked library to cater for the needs of the various disciplines. We also have a cafeteria that caters for the students. However, students are expected to make arrangements for their accommodation. The staff is always ready to guide students on this.

Laikipia University Eldoret Campus

Laikipia University Eldoret Campus is situated in the Kapsoya area, along Eldoret-Nakuru Highway, in Uasin Gishu County. The Campus is situated in a serene environment, ideal for a learning institution.

Laikipia University Embu Campus

Laikipia University Embu Campus is situated along Kanjuru Road, about 200 Metres off Embu – Meru Highway, past the County Assembly offices and hosts access to hostels within and around the campus for both male and female.

The Campus is made up of various bodies active in fields such as pedagogical research, entrepreneurship, cultural enhancement and social service, in line with the vision and mission of Laikipia University.

Embu Campus is a true icon of the Embu culture in the region and is committed to continuous improvement of the quality of research and teaching activities as well as being actively involved in the development of businesses and industry in Kenya. It is also commited to strengthening links with pioneer multinational and international organizations working for the advancement of innovation, knowledge and mankind.

Laikipia University Maralal Campus

Laikipia University Maralal Campus is located on a 600-acre piece of land granted by the County Council of Samburu to Laikipia University from the 1,600-acre Namotio Farm. The Campus is situated five kilometres west of Maralal Town, and is adjacent to Maralal High School.

To enhance access to university education in Maralal Town, a Town Campus has been opened at the District Centre for Early Childhood Education (DICECE) next to Samburu County administrative headquarters. The Centre offers Certificate, Diploma, Degree and Postgraduate Programmes on full-time, school-based and part-time basis.

The launching of Maralal Campus in January 2011 was received with a lot of excitement, support and appreciation by the local leaders and the community.
