How to Register for SHIF/SHA

The Social Health Authority is established to pool all contributions made under the Act, purchase healthcare services from empaneled and contracted healthcare providers, and pay for the provision of quality healthcare services to beneficiaries. It also receives contributions for indigents, vulnerable persons, and persons under lawful custody​​.

Web Registration

1. On your web browser, open the SHA website

From the SHA website, click on register and start the registration process.

Take a few minutes to go through the policies, instructions for self-onboarding, and the terms and conditions before continuing to the next step

2. Go through the self-registration process

After reading the terms and conditions, enter your details on the subsequent pages then proceed to finish your self-registration.

3. Review the details and finish application

Confirm the details entered on the application and submit the accurate data required.

USSD Self Registration

1. Dial the USSD code on your phone

Dial *147# on your mobile device then accept the SHA terms and conditions.

Enter your Kenyan identity card number and first name for verification. Then proceed by confirming your details.

3. Complete registration process

Enter all your details accurately and await a confirmation message to confirm you registration once done.

Assisted Enrolment

1. Visit your nearest Huduma Centre/agent

Go to your nearest Authorized SHA Agent and ask for assisted activation for your Social Health insurance. Make sure to carry your National ID card to facilitate the process.

2. Information Capture

A SHA agent will capture all necessary personal information, including civil status and details of dependents where necessary.

Preview the details of the application that you have provided. If the information entered is correct, the application will be submitted, biometrics captured and the application completed.
